MUGA Opening Ceremony

On Monday 5th February, we held our official opening ceremony of the Lambley Primary School MUGA.

A MUGA is a Multi Use Games Area and ours is amazing! It even has floodlights so can be used all through the year for a range of sports.

We welcomed Councillor John Cottee and members of the local community who worked on our recent MUGA development project. We gathered together outside for a special opening ceremony to share the tale of how our MUGA came to be. Councillor John Cottee cut the red ribbon with Dawn Edwards who had helped to coordinate the project. Tony Bramley, a member of the local community who had worked on both the initial and final bid, was delighted to see the MUGA open and in action. We are also joined by one of our previous school governors, Katja Watmore, who contributed to the beginning stages of the project with Mick Conroy and Marsha Brook (previous Parent Governor) when the dream was first being born.

We were successful in our application to the Nottinghamshire County Council Supporting Local Communities (SLC) Fund, receiving £33,450 for the project. This project was made possible because of the matched funding given by the local Parish Council and contributions from the Parents & Friends of Lambley Primary School and Lambley Primary School Sports funding grant.

It won’t be long before the MUGA is available for community use outside school hours both during the evenings and at weekends. Details will follow in the near future.
